As per the deliberation by Francis (2008), measures of dispersion means when scattering data how the statistics are comparable individually. There are three ways to measure dispersion, namely as the range, the semi interquartile range (SIR) and variance / standard deviation. In range dispersion uses the lowest value and the highest value in the given data set and the difference is taken as ranges. 1 2 3 4 5 Overall quality of the product 4 1.78% 23 10.22% 68 30.22% 120 53.33% 10 4.44% Overall satisfaction of the product 2 0.89% 32 14.22% 89 39.56% 79 35.11% 23 10.22% Service in the Bikehut 0 0.00% 93 41.33% 102 45.33% 23 10.22% 7 3.11% After sales services 3 1.33% 42 18.67% 88 39.11% 80 35.56% 12 5.33% Compared to other suppliers our product and services 0 0.00% 17 7.56% 107 47.56% 75 33.33% 26 11.56% Question Highest Value Lowest Value The Range Overall quality of the product 120 4 116 Overall satisfaction of the product 89 2 87 Service in the Bikehut 102 0 102 After sales services 88 3 85 Compared to other suppliers our product and services 107 0 107 Semi interquartile range (SIR) = (Q3-Q1) /2 Q3 Q1 Q3-Q1 (Q3-Q1)/2 Overall quality of the product 68 4 64 32 Overall satisfaction of the product 89 2 87 43.5 Service in the Bikehut 102 0 102 51 After sales services 88 3 85 42.5 Compared to other suppliers our product and services 107 0 107 53.5 Standard Deviation 1 2 3 4 5 Std. As per the information our products quality and services satisfies customers where the company has built a very good reputation. Therefore we have a 93% of word of mouth promotion via the satisfied customers. Conferring as per the data gathered the organisation performs incredibly well than the industry competitors. We recommend that the after sales service should improve. Most of the feedback has rated very well, but the organisational goal should be to give an extravagantly personalised service to get more rates on exceeding expectation. The customer service manager is responsible to introduce customer oriented training. It is the human resource managers duty to implement appreciation programme and reward the employees as a motivation factor. Production has to innovate appropriate cycle designs for females. Advertising team should attract feminine market and promote Bikehut stores as well as Halfords products Task 4 Requirement 4: P4.1 Use appropriate information processing tools As interpreted by Bajic and Wee (2005), information processing tools are the processors and tangible and non tangible equipment that use to arrange data, such as database, servers, computers, transmitters, ATMs as well as softwares, methodologies, internet, networks, websites and etc. By using the correct methods and equipment the organisation can be benefited. The output will be accurate to take effective and efficient decisions. In an organisation, budgets, project plans, cash flow statements, investment appraisals are used as information tools. Figure 2: Data Processing Tools (Source: http://www.lbl.gov/Science-Articles/Archive/SB-EETD-tuning-buildings.html) P4.2 Prepare a project plan for an activity and determine the critical path P4.3 Use financial tools for decision making. To evaluate a project in the main financial tool which use as a decision making technique is calculated net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR). Organisation invests in projects expecting an upright return in long time span. By using NPV the management can decide the surplus or the shortage of the cash flow. IRR calculation mainly considers about the discount rate only. The discount rate may change over the time period. Therefore the IRR rate will also change accordingly. Using the internal rate of return is not rational to evaluate a project. Discount Rate 12% Period Sum 0 (50,000.00) 1 12,000.00 2 15,000.00 3 15,000.00 4 18,000.00 5 10,000.00 NPV 462.49 IRR 12.371% D1 Explain the results of NPV and IRR Since this has a positive NPV, it is worth to invest in this project. The Different Fields in the Business World Essay -- Business Managemen

The Different Fields in the Business World There are many different fields in the business world. Business Management is the largest field in the corporate world. It takes responsibility, skill and determination to form a successful business of any type. There are numerous areas within a business that need the skills of management. Control of expenses, payroll, time management, and to initially raise capital to start a business all are areas in which management has to play an important role. Any businesses main objective is to gain a profit. A profit is the amount of money a business earns after all of it debts are paid. The field of management is essential to organize the business in such a way that a profit is made. The business start up is the most important piece of a long puzzle to establish a successful business. An entrepreneur is an individual or group of individuals who desire to open their own business. An entrepreneur needs to gain "smart" money to start his business. "Smart" money is simply capital, and a business needs a lot of it to survive. Today one in ten businesses survive for more than a year. It is hard to start up a successful business today and even harder to maintain a successful business status. An entrepreneur will raise capital through numerous ways. He can look for investors that wish to gain a small silent partnership in the business, loans can be taken from a bank and one of the most common types of capital comes from the stock market. A business owner will take his company public on the stock exchange in order to raise money. While money is being raised, the owner has to determine a ballpark figure on how much he will need to run this business. Today it is said y ou should have sufficient capital to be able to support your business for two years without returning a profit. After the initial start up is complete then skill and determination is needed to keep the business going. Cost is the area within a business where profit is made. Cost is the amount of money, which is spent to produce the tangible and or intangible goods or services of your business. These costs affect the price of the product and or service that you are selling. One type of cost is called fixed cost. This type of cost is the expense of a business that does not change and are always constant in a business. When money is made, debts are the firs... ...he business. Time is equal to money because there are only a certain amount of hours in each business day for a business to produce all of its revenue. When time is wasted, the amount of gross income can be greatly reduced. One way this can be explained is through the employee waste of time. An example of this would be ten employees taking an additional ten minutes each at lunch, which equals one hour and forty minutes per day. Based on a five-day week of work, this equals to a total loss of eight hours and twenty minutes. If the average employee was estimated to produce a hundred and twenty dollars per hour, that would equal to a total loss of more than fifty thousand dollars for the year. This proves that what employees believe is just a few extra minutes can in turn dramatically change a businesses net profit from one extreme to the other. Business Management is a very dedicated and appreciated job position. The manager needs to have all eyes open and make sure that the business is running smoothly so that there are no defects in the way the business is being run which could eventually lead to a decrease in the amount of profit in which that business is making each year.

Self critque

The research I used was mostly from personal experience with my daughter's condition as well as information I researched online. I feel Like I used a lot of Information and my classmates got a lot from It also. 2. Organization: I attempted to keep my presentation organized In a way that I could convey my speech both In a emotional and Informative way. I used somewhat of a chronological order when It came to explaining the events In my daughter's life but I do feel that I caked a bit In organization. . Introduction: The attention getter I used was Just me talking about why each one of us was taking the time to talk about something were passionate about and how my choice was a bit different than many others my age. I believe it was effective in setting the tone for the presentation. I did present the main points of speech but it wasn't until after I introduced the subject. 4. Body: I feel I presented the information in a logical way and was able to keep everything together with the the sis.Since the topic of my speech/presentation was about my daughter, my original fear was to lose track into another subject since I felt I could talk forever about her. I did narrow it down to the main points keeping everything relevant to the thesis. 5. Conclusion: I closed my presentation with the title of my speech which was, â€Å"A little light shines a long way†. I felt it conveyed an important message of never giving up and persevering in life, which is relatable in many situations to many people.I ended my speech with short video and my final words to review what was said during the entire speech, so it was clear that my presentation was over. 6. Transitions: I used transitions mostly when I was transitioning between ideas during my speech. I tried to firstly start with the idea of the subject and then introduce It completely. Although I did feel my transitions were a bit rough, it is something I need to work on. 7. Visual Ad: I worked very hard on my visual aid and felt that It helped convey my speech tenfold!I think I would use the same method of presenting any other speech because I felt hat using a Powering presentation Is one of the best ways of visually showing your audience what you want to talk about. 8. Telling: When It came to timing, I wanted everything to sound natural and sincere so I TLD want to rush. Having used this method, I believe I went over my time Limit, which will be something I will have to work on. 9. Delivery: Initially I was very nervous, so I started speaking very quickly, but as I progressed along, my speed slowed down because I became comfortable with my audience.I audience, which in the end helped a lot. 0. Practice: I rehearsed my presentation several times with my family and classmate Carmen. I feel like getting their feedback helped a lot with condensing UN-useful information, as well as adding better and necessary points to my speech that I had not noticed or already had.

Free Essays on Auditing

The topic I will be discussing tonight is management’s assertions about the financial statements representing their company. According to the textbook these assertions can be divided into to five broad categories. These categories are existence or occurrence, completeness, rights and obligations, valuation or allocation, and presentation and disclosure. An auditor’s develops objectives, which vary from one engagement to another, depending on the entity’s business and the accounting practices distinctive to its industry. In the existence or occurrence assertion, management asserts that all recorded assets, liabilities, and equities disclosed in the financial statements actually existed at the balance sheet date. Management also asserts that all recorded transactions occurred during the period ending on the balance sheet date. The auditor’s objective is to test whether the assertions made by management are appropriate. For example, when auditing inventory an auditor’s objective is to determine if the inventory existed at the balance sheet date, if the recorded inventory purchases in fact occurred, and if sales transactions in the income statement represent the exchange of goods or services for cash or other consideration. This can be tested by observing the client’s physical count of inventory, confirming the off-premises inventory with public warehouses, and by using inventory cutoff tests to be sure purchases and sales are recorded in the correct accounting period. In the completeness assertion, management asserts that all transactions occurred during the period were recorded. This assertion is the most challenging for the auditor because he or she must discover any transactions that were not recorded but should have been and vise versa. For example, when auditing inventory the auditor will use the same tests used in the existence assertion. The auditor will observe physical inventory, confirm off-premises invento... Free Essays on Auditing In order to fully comprehend what is meant by internal control we must look at the definition as stated in the COSO report. It is defined as, â€Å"a process, effected by an entity’s board of directors, management and other personnel, designed to provide reasonable assurance regarding the achievement of objectives in the following three categories: reliability of financial reporting; effectiveness and efficiency of operations; compliance with applicable laws and regulations.† An important aspect of internal control to keep in mind is it’s reliance on people. No matter how much control a company implements, there will always be humans involved at some step of the way and therefore a chance for error and/or fraud. It is important to remember that these controls can only provide reasonable assurance, not absolute assurance, regarding the achievements of a company’s objectives. Internal control consists of control activities. These activities include: performance reviews, segregation of duties, physical controls, and information processing controls. It is the responsibility of management to implement these activities effectively, and also to review the results so improvements or adjustments can be made. The auditor’s responsibility is to assess the level of risk connected to each control. After assessing the risks involved, tests must be performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the control in question. Some tests are more costly to run than the benefits that will be received. It is the job of the auditors to weigh the costs and benefits of performing each test and then determine which ones are to be carried out, and which will be scrapped. The controls discussed so far focus on management’s internal control over its employees. But in a retail store, employees are not the only ones with access to product, and therefore are not the only ones capable of influencing the financial statements. Management in the reta...

It must be backward compatible with the militarys existing technologies. This system incorporates advanced individual weapons, ultra-lightweight, low bulk, and multifunctional materials, within a full Spectrum Protective Combat Ensemble. It will have advanced sensors and communications. It must maintain a high degree of mobility while sustaining itself for up to 72 hours. The OFW system, scheduled for fielding in 2008, completely integrates these electronic capabilities. Degay explained that soldiers will never again have to wear cumbersome night-vision, infrared goggles, or heavy laser training components on their helmets (Degay, Interview). These and other features such as thermal sensors, day- night video cameras, and chemical and biological sensors are fully integrated within the helmet. It also includes a visor that can act as a "heads-up display monitor"(Degay, Interview) equivalent to two 17-inch computer monitors in front of the soldier's eyes. Being able to view a heads-up display, instead of pulling out map and flashlights, allow you to get a sense of where you are without having to cease your movement. This can be very beneficial. At first, it may be very strenuous on the eyes to be constantly looking at two tiny computer monitors while on the battlefield. However, after using some of the prototype systems, you realize that it is not very cumbersome, because you are not constantly staring at the information on the screens. In the final product, monitors can be turned off when not in use or the heads up display can be placed in the up position, away from the eye completely. The uniform system is a multi-function garment working from the inside out. It incorporates physiological sensors that allow the soldier, the chain of comman...

Benthams utilitarian principle Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Benthams utilitarian principle - Essay Example Based on these theories, societies, along with its member, behaves according to what they thought is applicable and appropriate. Happiness and pleasure against sorrow and pain controls every individual, thus behave according to the amount these opposing nature with the risk of the consequences that their action entails. This utilitarianism principle is what is thought to have governed the world as proposed by Jeremy Bentham. At present, Bentham’s (1781) utilitarian principle is considered as the most appropriate and the most modern among other ethical principles in the society. He regards pain and pleasure as the â€Å"sovereign masters† that control the world. Everyone’s action follows the principle of utility as each person may or may not identify one’s act as one that conforms to the society or not. Experiencing pain and pleasure allows humans to identify the things that they ought to do as well as what they shall do. Being able to identify the actions that are appropriate in the society allows individuals to identify what is right or moral. Furthermore, such actions that are seen to be good and beneficial to a large number of people in the community are then considered to be morally acceptable. On the other hand, when an action is seen to inflict pain and is not pleasing to a majority, it is therefore disapproved and regarded as an immoral act. This idea applies to actions that are considered to be â€Å"for the greater good.† ... Any conduct that that affects a greater number of people in the society should not be implemented and considered unjust. In a given circumstance though, where the conduct affects a small number of people negatively, the community should assume the responsibility of its adverse effects. (role of the government) Right is then associated by the feelings of pleasure, while wrong is associated with pain. These two sensations that every member of the society feels can be quantified, therefore, pleasure in its great amount is deemed best for humanity. Greater pain, on the other hand, is unacceptable in the society, and thus regarded as a violation of the laws set by man and the system that is implementing them. On the other hand, motives play an important role in identifying what is thought to be right and wrong for the community. The principle that is adverse of utility introduces the ideas of asceticism, and sympathy and apathy. Such instances when even an action that offers the least amo unt of happiness or pleasure may be approved by the community. This inverse utilitarian principle recognizes the value of the action even when it does not provide a greater amount of happiness on the condition that it is advantageous for a greater number of people. As Bentham (1781) pointed out, the difference in motives between hope and fear draws down to the same principle that is associated to asceticism. While hope may elicit anticipation for something that is good in the future, fear inhibits a person to do something immoral in order to avoid punishment in the future. Both feelings fall down to preventing the members of the society, no matter which group they belong to,
